Frightfully Fun Parade to Debut During Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland

August 29, 2016

Beginning this year, you are invited to gather for chills and thrills when the all-new Frightfully Fun Parade takes to the streets at Disneyland® Park, featuring a spectacle of spooky spirits from the deepest bayous of New Orleans to Halloweentown and beyond.

DL Frightfully Fun Parade

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow sets the mood as he arrives on his ghostly black steed just ahead of the parade itself, carrying a flickering jack-o-lantern as a warning to everyone along the parade route.

From “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King brings greetings from Halloweentown, as residents arrive to celebrate their favorite time of year. Grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize when Disney’s iconic Haunted Mansion attraction comes to “afterlife,” with swirling ballroom dancers, ominous gravediggers and a trio of hitchhiking ghosts. Inspired by Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” Dr. Facilier calls on mystical powers, summoning his Shadow Men from the bayou to loom large over his strange and twisted Voodoo parlor, and the mischievous Disney Villains appear out of the darkness, ready to stir up some trouble. A dark and dungeon-like lair takes over the parade route, bringing with it a wicked gathering of villainy from Hades and the Evil Queen to Jafar, Cruella and more!

The “Frightfully Fun Parade” will be presented exclusively during Mickey’s Halloween Party, a separately ticketed event at Disneyland Park hosted over 17 nights from Sept. 23-Oct. 31, 2016. Reserve tickets for your today!

Star Wars Rebels Interactive Adventure!

August 5, 2016

Star Wars Rebels Interactive Adventure

Disney Floral & Gifts, in partnership with Lucasfilm, is happy to announce the launch of the new Star Wars Rebels Interactive Adventure. For those brave enough to answer the call for this mission (and the Republic Credits [$500 US] necessary to pay for it) an adventure awaits.

Top Secret Mission Detail #1: The Mission

The Star Wars Rebels Interactive Adventure takes you from your resort room “barracks” on an interactive role-playing mission to the Star Tours® Attraction. You’ll go “under cover” as an Imperial Security Officer, complete with rank bar, cap, satchel, and diversion tattoos.

Top Secret Mission Detail #2: The Tech

The adventure features unique technology exclusive to this experience. Through an augmented reality app on you (compatible) smartphone, Ezra Bridger leads you on a mission to thwart the Empire. By scanning targets or “wayfinders” featured around your resort room and Star Tours, Ezra leads you to hidden information and gear needed to complete your mission.

The rebel tech on your phone allows you to experience the adventure again and again, even after returning home from the Disney Parks!

Top Secret Mission Detail #3: The Gear

With equipment to help on your adventure, the mission includes a disguise and a data card to transmit information to the rebels at Star Tours. Other collectibles include a Jedi holocron, lightsaber, Rebel journal, 4 Empire recruitment posters, and an Empire door banner.

And if you have multiple rebels in your party (and enough Republic Credits), you can add-on elements of this adventure for everyone to experience!

Top Secret Mission Detail #4: The Reward

Once you have completed your mission, you’ll be rewarded like any true hero with a Medal of Bravery. Presented in a rebel lock box wrapped with a Phoenix symbol, this medal can only be recovered upon completion of the mission. Like the one seen in the film Star Wars: A New Hope, the medal’s design features a lanyard, which can be personalized, to identify your victory.

Disneyland’s Tower of Terror to become Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

July 27, 2016

ToT Turns GoG

Beginning in summer 2017, the outrageous and irreverent gang will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! – a comically high-energy, rocking new adventure at Disney California Adventure® Park at Disneyland® Resort. You will be right in the mix with characters from the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.

Deep inside his fortress-like collection, the mysterious Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) is displaying his newest acquisitions: the Guardians of the Galaxy. They are trapped in customized display cases, suspended over a vast abyss. Unbeknownst to their unscrupulous captor, the intrepid Rocket Raccoon has escaped and is enlisting the Collector’s VIP guests for help. Guests board a gantry lift, which launches them into a chaotic and hilarious adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to break his fellow Guardians out of captivity.

The new attraction will anchor a broader universe of Super Heroes that will grow over time at Disney California Adventure Park. This exciting new presence will transform the structure currently housing The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ (scheduled to close in early 2017) into an epic new adventure, enhancing the breathtaking free fall sensation with all-new visual and audio effects to create a variety of ride experiences. You will experience multiple random, unique ride profiles in which the rise and fall of the gantry lift will rock to the beat of music inspired by the film’s popular soundtrack.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opens summer 2017 at Disney California Adventure Park.   Stay tuned, as we’ll bring you more details as the attraction develops as well as opportunities to celebrate The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ before it closes in early 2017.

July 2, 2016

DL Collage 1

From a new live stage show to all-new attractions, there’s so much for you to experience at the Disneyland® Resort this summer! Here are ten experiences you won’t want to miss.

  • The new “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” immerses Disney California Adventure® Park Guests in the emotional story of Anna and Elsa in an exciting theatrical interpretation for the stage, including elaborate costumes and sets, stunning special effects, show-stopping production numbers and some unique surprises.
  • On Soarin’ Around the World at Disney California Adventure® Park, you can take flight on an all-new adventure to exciting destinations.
  • The fun-filled Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, new in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park, is rolling with fun as Luigi’s cugini (or family) have come from Carsoli, Italy, to help celebrate Race Day in Radiator Springs. You can join in the fun by hopping aboard miniature Italian roadsters, in the style of late 1950s micro cars. The cars perform the traditional dances of their village, moving to upbeat music and Luigi’s singing in a precision-choreographed dance across a trackless “dance floor.”
  • In Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park, Star Wars Launch Bay invites Guests to discover authentic replicas of film props and encounter Star Wars characters such as Chewbacca and Kylo Ren.
  • The Star Wars-themed transformation of Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain thrusts you into an X-wing battle as you race through the darkness. The experience is enhanced by a new soundtrack, inspired by the Star Wars films’ musical themes and re-orchestrated to match every move in the attraction.
  • At Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, you can encounter a new adventure and characters from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” while journeying aboard a Starspeeder 1000.
  • Make sure you don’t miss your chance to see the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration dazzle and shine before the celebration ends Sept. 5, 2016.
  • The sparkling “Paint the Night” parade builds on the tradition of breathtaking nighttime parades in Disneyland park that began with the “Main Street Electrical Parade.” Illuminated almost entirely by LED lights, “Paint the Night” is a state-of-the art, vibrant wonder that immerses Guests in the magical, luminescent worlds of many Disney and Disney●Pixar characters.
  • The “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular entertains Guests from the tips of their toes to the sky high above, surrounding the audience with music, dazzling visual projections and other special effects that bring the pyrotechnics to life in surprising new ways. You can enjoy the projections from multiple locations, including Main Street, U.S.A., and “it’s a small world” mall.
  • At Disney California Adventure® Park, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” is a fun-filled version of the popular, nighttime “World of Color” spectacular. Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris joins Mickey Mouse on a magical water canvas, bringing to life the remarkable story of Walt Disney and The Happiest Place on Earth with animated imagery, live-action film, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score.

Soarin’ Around the World to debut on June 17, 2016

April 20, 2016

Soarin v2.0
Technically, that’s not correct.  It’s really going to debut in Shanghai Disneyland on June 16th as “Soarin’ Over the Horizon,” but in the United States it will debut on the 17th.

While I’m sad to see the original film retired, I’m really excited about this new film!  I wonder what kind of scents we’ll get this time?

Here’s a little preview of what’s to come:

Super Hero HQ at Disneyland is Closing

March 9, 2016

Captain America

It seems like Super Hero HQ in Tomorrowland at Disneyland just opened five months ago, and now the last day to experience it will be April 2, 2016.

That means it’s your last chance to suit up at Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries or journey the Bifrost for an encounter with the Mighty Avenger at Thor: Treasures of Asgard.

But this doesn’t mean Marvel Super Heroes are going away entirely.  Beginning April 3, 2016, both Captain America and Spider-Man will make appearances at Disney California Adventure in Hollywood Land.

I’m very glad that Cap is coming back to meet people, but this whole announcement has me really curious as to what is going to be going on at the former Innoventions building.

Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters to Open March 7 at Disney California Adventure Park

February 25, 2016

Luigi’s Rollickin Roadsters

Last year I shared my thoughts on the closing of Luigi’s Flying Tires at Disney California Adventure Park.  Today, Disney Parks announced that Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will open March 7, 2016.  Here’s the official line:

Luigi, who has invited his cousins from Carsoli, Italy, to Radiator Springs for a special celebration, has turned the tire storage yard behind his Casa Della Tires into a dance floor! You will be able to ride along with Luigi’s cousins as they move and spin to upbeat Italian music, performing the traditional dances of their hometown village.

Each dancing car will have its own high-spirited personality and signature dance moves – making every ride unpredictable, as you won’t know which way you will turn and spin next!

I’m intrigued by this and can’t wait to get the first-hand reports!
