Frightfully Fun Parade to Debut During Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland

August 29, 2016

Beginning this year, you are invited to gather for chills and thrills when the all-new Frightfully Fun Parade takes to the streets at Disneyland® Park, featuring a spectacle of spooky spirits from the deepest bayous of New Orleans to Halloweentown and beyond.

DL Frightfully Fun Parade

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow sets the mood as he arrives on his ghostly black steed just ahead of the parade itself, carrying a flickering jack-o-lantern as a warning to everyone along the parade route.

From “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King brings greetings from Halloweentown, as residents arrive to celebrate their favorite time of year. Grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize when Disney’s iconic Haunted Mansion attraction comes to “afterlife,” with swirling ballroom dancers, ominous gravediggers and a trio of hitchhiking ghosts. Inspired by Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” Dr. Facilier calls on mystical powers, summoning his Shadow Men from the bayou to loom large over his strange and twisted Voodoo parlor, and the mischievous Disney Villains appear out of the darkness, ready to stir up some trouble. A dark and dungeon-like lair takes over the parade route, bringing with it a wicked gathering of villainy from Hades and the Evil Queen to Jafar, Cruella and more!

The “Frightfully Fun Parade” will be presented exclusively during Mickey’s Halloween Party, a separately ticketed event at Disneyland Park hosted over 17 nights from Sept. 23-Oct. 31, 2016. Reserve tickets for your today!

Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration

Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration

Update: If you’re looking for discounts, here are the current offers for both Disney-owned hotels and Good Neighbor Hotels.

If you ever dreamed of visiting Disneyland, 2015 is definitely the year you want to do it.  The Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration is taking place, and the powers-that-be have put some great new additions on the table.

Disney is kicking off the celebrations with a 24 hour event on May 22 – 23, 2015.  The all-day/all-night revelry of the 24-hour party will include dancing and special character encounters at locations in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, along with enchanting Diamond Decor (which I like to call Diamond Bling).

There will also be the the premieres of three new nighttime spectaculars: “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, “Paint the Night” parade and “World of Color – Celebrate!”

Disneyland Forever

Fireworks, projections, and other special effects combine for what promises to be a spectacular nighttime show!  I have really loved what Disney has done with projection technology in recent years (i.e., Celebrate the Magic projection show), and I’m looking forward to see how they move forward with this.  Even more exciting to me is the  new song by Disney Legend Richard Sherman that closes the show.

Paint the Night Parade

I’m a big fan of the Main Street Electrical Parade, and this new parade looks even more stunning.  Floats and costumes covered in LEDs?  Yeah, I’m in.  (I just wish they did the right thing and put some Tron characters in.  If you’re going to have glowing costumes, you’ve got to have Tron!)

World of Color – Celebrate!

There is a new World of Color show that celebrates Walt Disney and his dream of Disneyland.  This is your opportunity to re-introduce yourself to the man who dared to dream big — and, as a result, created The Happiest Place on Earth!  Neil Patrick Harris (Doogie Houser, MD for those of you who watched television in the 80’s, and Barney from How I Met Your Mother for those of you who didn’t) and Mickey Mouse will appear in film sequences and animated imagery.  The show culminates in a madcap musical tour of Disneyland Resort attractions.  It sounds like a lot of fun!

Diamond Bling

There will be plenty of Disneyland 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration decor.  You can expect new merchandise and even food items.  And, of course, Sleeping Beauty Castle and Carthay Circle have received some major bling.  Check out the concept art!
