Frozen Summer Games

The Frozen Summer Games will be returning to Disney’s Blizzard Beach® Water Park at Walt Disney World® Resort starting May 26, 2017 with even more snowy, summery fun!

Guests visiting Blizzard Beach can join Team Kristoff or Team Olaf to participate in a variety of activities, from Ice Pail Relays and a Snowball Toss to Ski Pole Limbo and Slide Races.

And for the first time in forever, you will be able to meet and take photos with Kristoff! He will join Olaf in their very own character greeting location at Disney’s Blizzard Beach, where guests can snap photos with this adventurous pair.

With crafts, games and a DJ spinning some uptempo tunes throughout the day, the Frozen Summer Games are sure to be a major highlight at Disney’s Blizzard Beach this summer.

Frozen Takeover at Blizzard Beach

March 3, 2016

This summer, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park at the Walt Disney World Resort will play host to the inaugural Frozen Games.  Details below, followed by my comments.

Frozen at Blizzard Beach

The Winter Games Committee has taken advantage of the freak snowstorm over Central Florida and will host an impromptu sporting event known as The Frozen Games. They’ve even invited Kristoff and Olaf to lead teams of Guests in a day full of fun “Frozen” activities, before the warm sun melts the snow away.

When you visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park this summer, you can join “Team Kristoff” or “Team Olaf” and participate in a variety of activities, including Ice Pail Relays, a Snowball Toss to Ski Pole Limbo and Slide Races.

Olaf and Kristoff will join the Winter Games Committee members in the games’ Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and will give updates throughout the games to report on their team’s achievements.

My thoughts on Frozen characters appearing at Blizzard Beach:

Okay, I have to ask the question: If Kristoff and Olaf are showing up at Blizzard Beach, was the “freak snowstorm over Central Florida” really a freak snowstorm? I have a feeling Elsa is involved in this. That woman is taking over The World! First it was the Stave Church at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot. Then this Queen moved over to Magic Kingdom and displaced Princesses from Princess Fairytale Hall!

Not content with this, Elsa usurped Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother’s position as official “icer” of Cinderella Castle during the holidays. She’s invaded Hollywood Studios and encourages impressionable young minds to “let it go” multiple times throughout the day. And by all accounts she is going back to the Norway Pavilion later this year to take over what was once The Maelstrom.

The next question I have is: When is she going to make her move to take over Animal Kingdom?

Teen Beach 2 Beach Party at Typhoon Lagoon

June 2, 2015

Teen Beach 2 Beach Party

As part of the Coolest Summer Ever at Walt Disney World Resort, a new summertime dance party is surfing into Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. From May 22 through July 5, Guests can join in the Teen Beach 2 Beach Party daily (weather permitting) at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Surf Pool Beach.

“Teen Beach 2:” Beach Party is inspired by the Disney Channel Original Movie, “Teen Beach 2,” set to premiere this summer.  I will be completely frank here and say that I’ve only seen parts of the original Teen Beach movie.  I admit I liked what I saw, but wasn’t enthused enough to watch the whole thing.  But my kids have watched it multiple times and really enjoyed it.  When I told them about this dance party, they got excited about going.

So what is involved in the Beach Party?  Guests can join “bikers” Rev and Kicks and “surfers” Bingo and Sunny as they dance and play beach-themed games while DJ “Amp” spins remixes of retro tunes.  In the past 10 years, Disney has really become experts with this whole dance party thing.  You can find them happening all over the Disney theme parks.  But the best ones, in my opinion, are the ones that take place at special events.  Watching Cinderella’s stepmother (Lady Tremaine)  cutting a rug at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was awesome, and I have a feeling that the Teen Beach 2 Beach Party is going to be a step above that, given the setting.

It actually looks like fun!  Check out this video about it:
