What’s this? What’s this?!? Obscure Disney Villains are making an appearance in an all-new show that promises to “bring extra Halloween fun to ‘Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party’ when it returns to the Magic Kingdom® Park at Walt Disney World® Resort this fall.”
I’m not quite sure where I stand on this one, folks. I know there are plenty of people who love Hocus Pocus. I’m not really one of them. At a time when Disney was turning out films like Aladdin, I thought Hocus Pocus didn’t deliver. I didn’t find the jokes very humorous and thought the 17th century culture shock jokes really fell flat. Plus I really don’t care for Bette Midler’s acting (and still have occasional nightmares about being forced to watch Beaches). But in the many years I’ve been attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, I haven’t seen a stage show that wasn’t fun. So I’m willing to give Disney the benefit of the doubt and give the new show a chance.
And now, on to the official line:
“Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular” features the mischievous Sanderson Sisters from Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” as they return to the mortal world for one night during the Halloween season. With only a few hours to run amuck, the three sisters decide to use their magic to throw the best, evil Halloween party this side of the graveyard.
With the help of the Disney villains, Winifred, Mary and Sarah gather together to conjure the ultimate Hocus Pocus Party Potion and cast a spell on everyone in the Magic Kingdom Park.
The show includes appearances by Dr. Facilier, Oogie Boogie, Maleficent and other great Disney villains, and features dancers, projections and special effects that combine to make this an unforgettable Halloween treat.
“Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular” will be presented exclusively during “Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Sept. 15-Nov. 1, 2015.
