The Newly Refurbished Capt. Cook’s

On Wednesday, August 13 the newly refurbished Capt. Cook’s opened for business. This quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort operates 24 hours each day, and is located on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House.

The first thing veteran Disney World travelers will note is that the Dole Whip is no longer available at Capt. Cook’s. But don’t worry; it will be served in a new location at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Pineapple Lanai, which is “opening soon.”

The Adult Grilled Cheese has also been removed from the menu. However, the new menu has a wider range of choices than ever, including a classic lobster roll served on a buttered bun. They’ve added blackened fish tacos, a noodle bowl (beef or shrimp) and delectable coconut curry meatballs. There’s a new gourmet hot dog (with garlic ketchup and mango relish) and crispy fried chicken & waffles. The favorite hot beef ‘n blue sandwich remains on the menu, as well as the pizzas, grilled chicken sandwich, and house-made sushi (from Kona Island upstairs). The breakfast favorite Tonga Toast is still on the menu, along with a new breakfast burrito with egg, bacon, potatoes and Cheddar cheese.

Overall, the feedback on the changes has been very positive. If you get a chance to try out the new Capt. Cook’s, we’d love to hear what you think of it! If you can’t get there soon enough, check out the video tour below.
