The show comes to life on, above and around the Chinese Theater with state-of-the-art projections, special effects, fireworks and a rousing seasonal musical score.

Led by elves Wayne and Lanny, the duo from ABC/Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animated special “Prep & Landing,” the spirited yuletide adventure to the North Pole features memorable holiday moments from Disney films including “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pluto’s Christmas Tree,” “Bambi,” Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and more, all building to a festive finale that’s “So tinsel!”

Star Wars Land Concept Art and New Details Announced

February 23, 2016

New Star Wars Land Concept Art and exciting new details about the Star Wars-themed lands planned for the Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts were shared on the “Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60” special that recently aired on ABC.

Walt Disney Imagineering has joined forces with the imagination of Lucasfilm to bring this galaxy to life, and the illustrations shared during the TV special show the epic scale of these lands.

You will be able to step aboard The Millennium Falcon and actually pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, steering the vessel through space, firing the laser cannons, in complete control of the experience.

And with the arrival of the First Order to the planet, visitors will find themselves in the middle of a tense battle between stormtroopers and Resistance fighters.

At 14 acres each, these richly detailed lands promise to immerse you in the Star Wars galaxy as never before, allowing you to create your own adventure.

Stay tuned for more details about all the excitement coming to Disney Parks, the place where Star Wars lives.

Star Wars Land Concept Art 1

I was as excited as any Star Wars fan would be when Star Wars Land was announced at the D23 Expo last August.  Of course, I still have many questions.  How long will it take until we are able to experience this for ourselves?  (I have a feeling it is going to be later rather than sooner.)  What is going to happen with Disney’s Hollywood Studios while a good portion of the park is closed for construction on the new Star Wars areas?

Regardless of the answers, this new Star Wars Land Concept Art is really great and I am very much looking forward to Imagineering making it all a reality.  I trust they have the talent and desire to make this experience amazing!

Every day at Disney Parks, you can step into exciting Star Wars experiences such as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple and Star Wars Launch Bay, where you can come face to face with some of the greatest heroes and villains of the saga. Soon, a visit to Star Wars Launch Bay at either Disneyland® Park or Disney’s Hollywood Studios® will transport you to the Star Wars galaxy for an encounter with Kylo Ren on the bridge of his First Order Star Destroyer.

Star Wars Launch Bay was designed to showcase a variety of Star Wars characters over time. In addition to Kylo Ren, you may also come across a garrison of First Order Stormtroopers or the heroic Wookiee, Chewbacca, holed up in a secret Resistance base.

The portal from Star Wars Launch Bay to Kylo Ren’s Star Destroyer opens in February at Disneyland Park and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The end of Star Wars Weekends and new permanent Star Wars experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

November 9, 2015

the end of Star Wars Weekends

There has been a great disturbance in the Force!  Changes in the Star Wars experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are coming, and these changes are both good and bad.

Very soon, you’ll have the opportunity to experience Star Wars in the park in an all-new way – every day! New experiences will open starting Dec. 1, 2015, bringing that galaxy far, far away, a little bit closer.

Star Wars Launch Bay will take Guests into the Star Wars saga and the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes, special merchandise and opportunities to encounter Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be home to a brand new adventure inspired by the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. During the opening months, Disney will make sure that everyone who rides Star Tours will experience the new adventure. After that, it will be up to the will of the Force.

There is also new information about “Star Wars: Path of the Jedi.” It will feature scenes from the complete Star Wars saga, giving anyone new to the Star Wars galaxy an opportunity to get acquainted with the films.

Last, but certainly not least, is Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, which will open in early December. This reimagined Jedi Training experience will take younglings to the secret site of an ancient Jedi temple where they will face Darth Vader along with the Seventh Sister – a new villain from the Disney XD series “Star Wars Rebels.”

And work begins next year on the 14-acre Star Wars-themed land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new construction, unfortunately, means the end of Star Wars Weekends. While Star Wars Weekends has been a great way to enjoy the saga for a few days every year, now the Force will be with Disney’s Hollywood Studios every day.  Even Yoda cannot foresee whether Disney will resume the special events and celebrity appearances once the new land is complete.  (My guess is they will not.)

With Star Wars Launch Bay, the new Jedi Training experience, “Star Wars: Path of the Jedi,” and a new destination in the Star Tours attraction opening in December, you’ll be able to step into the Star Wars saga every time you visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
